What Is a Pergola?

A pergola is an outdoor archway often found in parks and gardens designed to provide shade and partial shelter for a walkway or a sitting area. Vertical posts or pillars provide support for cross beams and an open lattice that partially blocks the sun and offers space for vines to grow.

Pergolas in Wood, Metal, and Composite

We build pergolas in a variety of materials, including wood, custom composites, and metal. Western red cedar and mahogany are two of the most common choices: these woods are beautiful, strong, durable, and naturally resistant to rot, decay, and damage from insects, which makes them perfect for outdoor structures. Composite materials offer the same design possibilities as wood but require less frequent maintenance over time, which makes them a popular choice as well.
