Our wooden gates are built around a heavy-duty steel core to maximize their sturdiness and durability. The core is then wrapped in select-grade wood: either mahogany, western red cedar, or Brazilian ipe.
Mahogany is an exceptionally strong wood, and it features a distinctive deep rich reddish brown color. Its fine-grained and smooth texture allow for a high-quality finish, and its warm, natural aesthetic is a perfect complement for many homes. It’s also naturally rot- and pest-resistant, making it a great choice for outdoor gates.
Cedar is an excellent choice for a driveway gate: prized for its rich color, ranging from mellow ambers to reddish cinnamons, western red cedar is light, durable, and contains an oil that makes it resistant to insect damage and decay. It’s also more resistant to warping than many other woods, so it’s good in damp or humid climates.
Also known as “Ironwood,” Brazilian ipe is one of the most durable and sought after hardwoods for outdoor construction. It’s low maintenance, naturally resistant to decay, and even has a Class A fire rating, the same rating given to concrete and steel.
Our wooden gates are built to last. Gates made out of a hard wood like mahogany can last up to 50 years with proper maintenance. Regular painting, staining, and sealing will increase your gate’s lifespan so you can enjoy it for decades.
If you’re looking for a gate that looks like painted wood but with fewer maintenance requirements, you might want to consider composite gates. Made from a unique blend of high quality polymers and recycled plastics, composite gates resist decay and can last even longer than wood.
