Custom Built Garden Fences and Planter Boxes To Enhance Your Outdoor Space

Garden fences and planter boxes are a great way to add a unique touch to your outdoor space. With our custom designs, you can create a personalized look that complements the style of your home, whether you want to add that perfect finishing touch to a formal garden or just keep your veggies safe from deer.

Garden Fence Materials

The best garden fence is the one that works for your style, budget, and environment. Wood, metal, composite, and even stone fences are all good choices depending on your goals for your outdoor space. No matter what you choose, Garon sources high-quality materials to fit your budget and aesthetic. Below are some popular choices for garden fences.

Wood

Wood garden fences lend your space a rustic and natural feel; they’re a great choice to highlight the abundant plant growth of a garden. We work in a variety of woods including western red cedar, mahogany, and Brazilian ipe (or “ironwood,” as it’s sometimes called); all are known for their durability. Western red cedar in particular is a great choice for garden fences: it naturally contains an oil that repels insects.

Stone

Stone is a beautiful and long-lasting base for a garden fence. Working in rubble masonry for an organic feel or ashlar masonry for a more uniform look, stone fences are a long New England tradition. They are especially suited for historic properties or just to add that rustic touch.

Metal

Durable metal mesh fences do a great job of protecting your vegetables and flowers from critters, and have the added benefit of visibility so you’re always able to keep an eye on your plants. And if you’d like to make a statement with your garden, we can do that too: Garon works in cast iron, wrought iron, and stainless steel, meaning you have lots of options for metal fencing that fits your needs.

Composite

Composite material has many of the design benefits of wood but with added durability. Made from high quality plastic polymers, it’s a good choice for those who love the look of wood but who don’t want to worry about rot, insects, or splinters. Composite posts combined with sturdy metal mesh create a strong, deer-proof garden fence that will last for years.

Fencing for Keeping Animals Out of Your Garden

The best kind of fencing for keeping out animals depends on the animal in question. For small pests like rabbits or groundhogs, a welded wire mesh fence with holes no larger than 1” x 1” will deter most. We typically also trench the mesh 18 inches around the perimeter of your garden, to help prevent any critters from digging underneath. If you want to keep deer away from your tender plants, you’ll need something at least 6 feet tall and sturdy enough to withstand any deer impacts. If you also want privacy in your garden, consider a solid wood or composite fence.

Custom Garden Features

While the actual plants and care are up to your green thumb, Garon can help you get started on the garden of your dreams. We make custom planter boxes, perfect for flowers, plants, or vegetables, and we can add a pergola for shade, trellises for your climbing plants, and even custom stone work for that final personal touch.
