PVC Fencing

Low Maintenance PVC Fencing: The Perfect Choice for Your Home

PVC fencing is a type of synthetic fencing material made from polyvinyl chloride (PVC): it’s beloved by homeowners for its durability and customizability.

PVC fencing is a good choice for homeowners looking for privacy, security, and even deer protection, since it’s sturdy enough to deter both human and animal intruders, and can be built with solid panels to block line of sight into your property. It’s an excellent alternative to painted prefabricated wood fencing: while there’s no natural wood grain on PVC, once wood fencing is painted, the only visible difference between them is the slight sheen of PVC.

The Advantages of PVC Fencing

Wood and metal are traditional materials that hold a lot of appeal – but PVC has a number of benefits that homeowners sometimes overlook.

  • Durability: PVC fencing is highly durable and can withstand most weather conditions without rotting, warping, or splintering. It’s resistant to pests and also to mold and mildew growth, which can be a significant advantage in humid or damp environments.
  • Low Maintenance: Unlike wood fences, which require regular painting, staining, or sealing, PVC fences are very low maintenance. They don’t need to be painted, and cleaning them usually involves just a quick rinse with a hose.
  • Aesthetic Variety: PVC fences come in various styles, colors, and textures. It can easily be customized to fit your style and complement your property.
  • Cost-Effectiveness: PVC fencing’s long lifespan and low maintenance requirements make it highly cost-effective in the long run.
  • Eco-Friendliness: PVC fencing is recyclable and doesn’t require the use of chemicals for maintenance.
  • UV Resistance: The high-quality PVC fencing we use is treated with UV inhibitors, which helps prevent fading and discoloration from prolonged sun exposure.
  • Non-Conductive: PVC doesn’t conduct electricity, which can be an added safety feature, especially in areas prone to lightning strikes.

Which Is Better, PVC or Vinyl Fencing?

PVC and vinyl are often used interchangeably: however, they are technically different. Without getting into the details, just know that vinyl is the umbrella term, and PVC (or polyvinyl chloride) is a specific type of vinyl. In other words, all PVC is vinyl, but not all vinyl is PVC. Further, most fences called vinyl are likely to be PVC.

This means that you don’t need to worry about whether PVC or vinyl is better when it comes to choosing a fence, especially at Garon. All of our PVC fences are made from high-quality vinyl that will last for years with no fading or warping.

What’s the Difference Between PVC and Custom Composite?

PVC is a much less expensive alternative to custom solid composite fencing. PVC fencing comes with a factory finish that has a slight sheen to it, and it’s hollow inside; our custom composite fencing, on the other hand, is solid – heavier than wood, in fact – and has a painted finish. We make it in-house from a unique blend of high-quality polymers and recycled plastics reinforced with built-in metal rails for strength.

While both PVC and custom composite mimic the look of a wooden fence, custom composite is a higher quality, but much more expensive, option. For customers looking for that extra level of sturdiness and durability, we design fences, driveway gates, and walk gates from custom composite.

How Long Does PVC Fencing Last?

Unlike traditional wood or metal fencing, PVC fencing is resistant to rotting, warping, and rusting, making it a long-lasting solution for outdoor spaces. PVC is also great because it requires minimal maintenance: with proper installation and only intermittent cleaning, your PVC fence can last for up to 50 years.
